Simple Sushi Recipe

Attention, Sushi Lovers!! :)

Feels like eating sushi? Today we will be sharing a simple way of making sushi.

Preparation and cooking time: 30 to 40 minutes
Serves 6

Ingredients:

1 packet of sushi rice (750g)
3 tbsp of sushi vinegar
2 tbsp of sugar (depends on the sweetness)
1 packet of nori sheets (10 sheets)
3 carrots
3 cucumbers
3 large eggs
1 can of tuna
1 packet of crab sticks (16 pcs)

Methods:

1. To make the omelette for sushi, season the egg with little bit of soy sauce, sesame oil and pinch of salt and pepper.

2. Cut the omelette into thin strips. Julienne the carrots, cucumbers and crab sticks.

3. Cook the sushi rice. When it is done, add 3 tbsp of sushi vinegar and 2 tbsp of sugar (more or less, as you wish). :)

Since we don't have the sushi bamboo mat, we are using plastic wrap instead.

4. Place a sheet of nori seaweed on the plastic wrap and spread a handful of sushi rice.

*Useful tips: Dip your hand into vinegar to prevent the rice sticking. :)

5. Place the ingredients on the spread rice (ingredients as you wish).

6. Roll the sushi and gently press it.

7. Cut the sushi into pieces.

Tadaaa!! This is how the end product looks like! :D

Enjoy your sushi meal! Bon appetit!

By Blackbird

Hello! Quadapetite will start by a food review.

So this afternoon, Cher our course mate called us and Angela, also our course mate out for lunch before she go back to Malaysia for her winter break. She suggested Blackbird at Goodwood and since all of us haven't try that before, we all agreed to give Blackbird a try! Also, the day before Kay and I was scrolling through urbanspoon and we saw this Blackbird Cafe that serve pastries.

They don't have too fancy decoration yet they have a very homey cozy feel. Is a great place to hang out with your friends or your loved ones.

You can even choose which tea cup you like to use for your tea!

From the left: Pear tart, Raspberry pastry, Peach pastry, Dark Plum danish and Lemon tart.

Lemon Tart. I like this the most!

Savoury - Mushroom pie.

Lily ordered Raspberry Dark Chocolate. The name itself sounds interesting already. Taste? It was okay, just like any other ordinary dark chocolate. The raspberry flavour was too light to blend well with the dark chocolate.

Kay's Mocha.

The hand towel that caught my eyes.

And this is what I ordered - Hibiscus & Raspberry tea with the very girly cup I chose. It smell really good and the taste was really light and soothing. I quite like it! The cup makes the tea taste better too!

So this is how comfortable the place is. Just like your home. :)

The girls.

What's the best thing in Blackbird and what's the must-try? The service and the place! The big smile on the face when they are serving. :)  The must-try would be the tea I suggest. They serve quite a number of tea with all the unique and pretty names and the cups you can choose from. Everything cost us about $50, for the good place, good food and good girlfriends around, WORTH IT! I will definitely go back there as I really like the place and it is not really far away from our place.

the secret for Blackbird.
